Großglockner Ultra-Trail 25 - 28 July 2024
The best of the best trail and mountain runners meet in the Zell am See-Kaprun region from 25 to 28 July 2024. To do what? To run, of course. But they aren't running just anywhere. In fact, the run a route around Austria's highest-situated mountain into the fascinating world of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The route is 110 km long, crosses more than 6.500 altitude metres, leads past 14 glaciers and through 3 federal states and past 300 three thousand metres high peaks. With a selection of 4 different competitions the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail is again one of the Alps' top trail running events in 2024.
Four Trail running competitions
Apart from running the full route around Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner, you can also choose from four other competitions in which you can compete against others and overcome your weaker self. The Grossglockner Trail from Kals at the Grossglockner leads 57 km and 3,500 altitude metres along the Grossglockner through the beautiful Dorfertal Valley into the glacier world of Kaprun. On the Weissee Glacier World Trail, there are 35 km and 1,500 altitude metres to be conquered and beautiful trails to be run in the Weissee Glacier World. At Osttirol Trail, the participants run 84 km and 5,000 altitude metres.
Whatever you decide, one thing is for sure: all routes lead through the stunning landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park. You run mainly in more than 2,000 m above sea level, with passes in more than 2,500 m above sea level. Good running technique and experience as runner in high mountains are required.
